The RG40XXV and RG40XXH are the same handheld in two shapes. Both run Linux on an Allwinner H700 with 1 GB of RAM, both have a 4.0 inch 640x480 IPS screen, and both play the same libraries. The only real difference is the form factor.
Performance is identical
Because the hardware is the same, emulation is identical. Both reach N64 and Dreamcast as mostly playable, with PSP somewhat playable and Saturn barely playable. If you already know the performance, the choice is purely about how the device feels.
Vertical vs horizontal
The RG40XXV is a vertical device, which suits one-handed play and a more Game Boy-like feel. The RG40XXH is horizontal, which gives you a wider grip and more comfortable shoulder-button access for longer sessions.
Battery
