Anbernic RG35XX Plus vs Miyoo Mini Plus

The RG35XX Plus and Miyoo Mini Plus are the two handhelds most people land on when they want a cheap vertical device. They cost about the same, look similar, and both play the classic libraries well. The differences show up in daily use.

Performance and emulation ceiling

The RG35XX Plus runs on an Allwinner H700 with 1 GB of RAM. That is a meaningful step up from the Miyoo Mini Plus, which uses a SigmaStar SSD202D with only 128 MB of RAM. In practice the RG35XX Plus reaches a little further: it handles N64 and Dreamcast as mostly playable, while the Miyoo Mini Plus stops cleanly at SNES and PlayStation 1.

For Game Boy, NES, SNES, Genesis, and PS1, both are excellent. If your library is mostly those systems, the Miyoo Mini Plus is enough. If you want to dip into N64 or Dreamcast, the RG35XX Plus is the safer pick.

Screen and feel

Both use a 3.5 inch 640x480 IPS panel, so the display quality is essentially identical. The Miyoo Mini Plus is lighter at 162 g versus 186 g, and its smaller footprint makes it the more pocketable of the two. The RG35XX Plus feels a little more substantial in the hand.

Battery and storage

The RG35XX Plus has a 3300 mAh swappable battery and dual MicroSD slots. The Miyoo Mini Plus has a 3000 mAh swappable battery and a single MicroSD slot. The dual-slot design on the Anbernic is a real convenience if you like keeping one card for the OS and one for games.

Which should you buy?

Choose the Miyoo Mini Plus if you want the smallest, lightest device and your library is Game Boy through PS1. Choose the RG35XX Plus if you want a bit more emulation headroom, dual storage, and a slightly larger battery for roughly the same money.
